I’m that rare bird which is equal left brain and right brain. Here’s a peak into the life I have when my right brain is calling the shots (also known as my Professional Biography):
Lauren McCadney is an accomplished marketing professional with corporate and academic experience. Currently she is the architect of CDW’s social media strategy. She assumed this position in June 2011 after successfully leading the company’s small business marketing efforts for several years. While in small business marketing her reputation as an innovative marketer that delivers impactful results continued to flourish. She received an Honorable Mention on the 2011 Top Small Business Influencers list from SmallBizTechnology.com. And in 2010 she was recognized as the “Small Business Marketer of the Year,” by the Enterprise Council of Small Business — a division of the Corporate Executive Board. Most recently she was named one of the “2012 Top 25 Digital Marketers” by BtoB Magazine.
Although assuming the Social Media title in 2011, Lauren is no stranger to the topic. Lauren first integrated Social Media into her marketing programs as a customer engagement tool in 2007. Lauren’s expertise in the Social Media arena has led to her being a sought after speaker with engagements including the NBA Rookie Transition Program, Social Commerce Strategies Conference “B2B Social Commerce”; Interactive Advertisers Bureau (IAB) Social Media — IAB Marketplace, “Effective Community B2B Marketing with Social Media-Lessons Learned from B2B Marketers;” Social Commerce, “Engaging Business Buyers Through Social Media;” and the Warrillow Spring Conference, “Building an Online B2B Community.”
Lauren gained her expertise in Integrated Marketing Communication during her varied career in advertising, brand management, CRM and Sales. Before joining CDW, she was Assistant Vice President at SBC, where she held leadership positions in Customer Analytics and Research, Marketing, and Sales. Her advertising career includes leading the McDonald’s and The Army National Guard accounts for premier agencies. Her brand management experience was gained at The Quaker Oats Company.
Lauren has taught at the University of Texas at Austin where she developed a course in 2009 entitled, Consumer Insight: Leveraging the Social Web. This leading edge course emphasizes the social web – i.e., communities, forums, chats, reviews and netnography– as the source of qualitative data gathering. McCadney’s prior teaching experience includes serving as a Adjunct Professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Management, where she taught Integrated Marketing Communications. She also has extensive university guest-lecturing experience — University of Illinois, Howard University, Stanford University and The Medill School at Northwestern University.
Lauren is a member of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) where she currently sits as a member of the Ethics Advisory Board. Since 2011 she has served as an Advisory Board member for Social Media Week – Chicago.
Ms. McCadney has a Bachelors of Business Administration from Howard University and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
